How much assistance
Up to 20% of the purchase price (Forgivable Loan)
Zero-interest deferred forgivable loan in 2nd or 3rd lien position. Forgiven after a specified period of continuous owner-occupancy. Must be repaid if the home is sold, transferred, leased, rented, abandoned, or ceases to be your primary residence during the loan term.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), adjusted for family size, as defined by HUD
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a principal residence in the past 3 years.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a home within the City of Tallahassee city limits.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for City of Tallahassee First-Time Homebuyer Program
Step 1: Contact the Tallahassee Lenders' Consortium (TLC) or the City of Tallahassee Housing Division. Complete a homebuyer education course through a HUD-approved counseling agency such as the Tallahassee Urban League. Contribute at least $500 toward the down payment or closing costs. Apply through a participating lender.
