My name is Tyler Thompson. I am a licensed North Carolina real estate agent and the founder of HouseBuyerGuides.com.

I built this site because first time buyers have no single place to see every down payment assistance program available in a given city. Programs are scattered across state housing finance agencies, county offices, city housing departments, and nonprofit providers. Lenders know a few, agents know a few, and buyers usually miss the ones they would qualify for.

HouseBuyerGuides.com consolidates those programs into one guide per city. Content is produced with research tools and then reviewed against current official sources before it goes live. My role is setting the editorial standard, verifying accuracy, and making judgment calls about what gets included and how it is described.

Editorial standards

Program descriptions on this site are based on published guidelines from housing finance agencies, state housing departments, city offices and nonprofit providers. Before a program is added, the details are checked against the current official source and key terms are summarized in plain language.

Program data is reviewed in regular batches with a focus on funding status, income limits, credit score minimums and homebuyer education rules. When an official source changes, the city guide or program page is updated as soon as possible and the change is reflected in the structured data used on the site.

Because this is a site that covers money decisions and mortgage products, the goal is to be conservative and careful with every claim. If a detail cannot be verified directly on a current official source, it will either be left out or clearly described as an example rather than a promise.
