Eligibility

  • Income limits: Must be a current HACA Public Housing or Housing Choice Voucher program resident.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be a first-time homebuyer or have not owned a home in the last 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must be a current HACA resident (Public Housing or Housing Choice Voucher program). Must purchase within the Austin area.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for HACA Down Payment Assistance Program

Step 1: Pick up a registration application packet at the HACA Central Office at 1124 S. IH 35, Austin. Must contribute a minimum of $2,500 toward down payment, closing costs, or reserves. Contact Suzanne Schwertner at (512) 477-4488 ext. 2118.
