How much assistance
Up to $3,000 total. Down payment assistance covers 50% of the required down payment up to $3,000, and/or closing cost assistance covers reasonable closing costs normally associated with the home purchase, with combined total assistance capped at $3,000. (Grant)
Provided as a grant or forgivable second mortgage funded by CDBG; buyer must occupy the home as their primary residence. Contact the City of Blue Springs Community Development Department for current recapture terms.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) for the Kansas City MSA. Current AMI limits are set annually by HUD — contact the City for the current year's figures.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — First-time homebuyer is defined as a buyer who has not owned a home in the previous three years. Single parents and displaced homemakers are also eligible even if they have owned a home more recently.
- Geographic restrictions: Home must be located within the Blue Springs city limits.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Blue Springs First Time Homebuyer Program
