Eligibility

  • Income limits: At or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI)
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have had an ownership interest in principal home within the past 3 years. Waived for active duty, veterans, retired military, K-12 educators, and EMS personnel.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must purchase within the City of Bangor. Does not apply to mobile homes.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for City of Bangor Homebuyer Assistance Program

Step 1: Contact the City of Bangor Community and Economic Development Department at (207) 992-4280. Complete a HUD-certified homebuyer education class prior to purchase. Download the Homebuyer Program Application from bangormaine.gov.
