Cleveland Heights Down Payment Assistance Program

Up to $30,000 (Forgivable Loan)
Part of the assistance is a forgivable grant that does not need to be repaid. The remainder is a deferred payment, 0% interest loan repayable upon sale, transfer, or if property becomes absentee-owned.

- Income limits: At or below HUD Area Median Income (AMI) guidelines
- First-time buyer required: Yes
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a one- or two-family home within the City of Cleveland Heights
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Cleveland Heights Down Payment Assistance Program
Step 1: Contact the Home Repair Resource Center (HRRC) at 216-381-6100 ext. 14 or dwallace@hrrc-ch.org to begin the application. You must complete pre-purchase and home maintenance counseling from a HUD-approved agency, contribute a minimum 3.5% down payment toward your first mortgage, and the property must pass a code inspection.
Notes
ARPA-funded program. Property must be occupied by seller or vacant minimum 90 days. Mortgage broker fees, origination fees, and points cannot exceed 2% of first mortgage loan. Lead/defective paint issues must be resolved prior to application.
