How much assistance
Up to $14,999 or up to 6% of the purchase price, whichever is lower (Forgivable Loan)
Forgiven after 5 years if you remain in the home as your primary residence. If you move out, refinance, or pay off your mortgage during that period, the loan must be repaid.
Eligibility
- Income limits: At or below 120% of Area Median Income (AMI). HOME-funded projects require at or below 80% AMI.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years. Must have at least 6 months of Ohio residency and be a permanent U.S. resident.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a single-family home or condominium within the City of Columbus, Columbus City School District.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Columbus American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI)
Step 1: Contact the City of Columbus Housing Division at (614) 645-7896. Must have $500 of own saved funds. Total housing expenses (PITI) must not exceed 35% of monthly income, and total debt service must not exceed 45% of monthly income. Funds are limited and available first-come, first-served.
Notes
Buyer must have $500 of their own saved funds exclusive of loans, credits, or gift funds. Property must be in Columbus City School District boundaries.
