Eligibility
- Income limits: Up to 70% of Area Median Income. Minimum $25,000 annual household income.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home within the last 3 years.
- Credit score minimum: 620
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a home within Fairfax County through the FTHB program.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Fairfax County First-Time Homebuyers (FTHB) Program
Step 1: Attend a Homeownership Orientation session, complete the Virginia Housing Homebuyer Education Course (free), and submit an application. Homes are allocated via drawings. Contact homeownership@fairfaxcounty.gov or call 703-246-5087.
Notes
Homes are priced significantly below market value. Resale is restricted to program-determined prices during the 30-year control period. Buyers must pay 2% down payment plus closing costs and have at least one month of savings.
