How to Apply for Macomb Community Action IDA Homebuyer Program
Step 1: Contact Christina Stepowski at Macomb Community Action at (586) 469-7378 to enroll. You must have a child under 18 living at home, attend a budgeting class, have reasonable or repairable credit, and contribute a minimum of $20 per month in savings. Every $1 you save is matched 3:1, so saving $1,000 earns a $3,000 match for $4,000 total toward your down payment.
Notes
Individual Development Account (IDA) matched savings program. Requires a child under 18 in the household. Participants learn budgeting skills while building savings for homeownership. The 3:1 match ratio means relatively small monthly contributions can generate meaningful down payment assistance.
