  • Income limits: At or below 80% AMI (approximately $65,600 for a family of four).
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must be a current City of Milwaukee resident purchasing within city limits.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Milwaukee Home Down Payment Assistance Program

Step 1: Complete 8 hours of homebuyer counseling with a HUD-approved agency (ACTS Housing, Housing Resources Inc., or United Community Center). Get pre-approved for a mortgage. Work with a real estate agent to find a home within city limits.
