Eligibility

  • Income limits: Must meet gross income guidelines per family size (set by local Habitat affiliate).
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — First-time homebuyer or in need of adequate housing.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must live or work in Rutherford County for at least 6 months.

How to Apply for Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program

Step 1: Pick up an application at the Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity office at 850 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Murfreesboro, TN 37130. Applications are accepted during open periods. Must complete 300 hours of partner equity and 50 hours of Financial Literacy and Homeowner Education courses.

Notes

Monthly mortgage payments capped at 30% of household income. Homes are sold at no profit. Buyers contribute 300 hours of sweat equity toward construction of their home.
