How much assistance
Up to $20,000 (Forgivable Loan)
Zero-interest recoverable grant with a 5-year term, forgiven at a rate of 20% per year. Fully forgiven if maintained as primary residence for 5 years. Balance prorated if sold or refinanced within 5 years.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income cannot exceed 100% of HUD Area Median Income (AMI) by county, adjusted for household size
- First-time buyer required: No
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a home within the City of Trenton.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Address Yourself Trenton DPA Program
Step 1: Enroll in the Address Yourself Homeownership Program at addressyourself.org and complete the online enrollment form. A team member will connect you with a HUD-approved counselor for a one-on-one housing counseling session. Once preapproved by an approved lender and under contract, complete the online Eligibility Quiz and upload your contract and preapproval letter. Partnership between New Jersey Community Capital and Trenton Neighborhood Initiative. Provides affordable mortgages, accessible homebuyer and financial counseling, and down payment assistance. ITIN holders may be eligible. No fees charged by NJCC other than reimbursement of filing fees to record the DPA grant mortgage.
