Up to $20,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance
Zero-interest forgivable loan. Forgiven after 5 years of continuous owner-occupancy. If you sell, transfer, lease, rent, abandon, or cease to occupy the property as your principal residence during the affordability period, you may be required to repay a portion of the assistance.

  • Income limits: At or below 80% of Area Median Income. Family of 4: $85,350.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years, or be from a federally declared disaster area.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must purchase within Arlington city limits.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for City of Arlington Homebuyer Assistance Program (AHAP)

Step 1: Register for a homebuyer orientation through Housing Channel at 817-924-5091 or counseling@housingchannel.org.

Step 2: Complete the HUD-approved Homebuyer Education Course through Housing Channel.

Step 3: Verify your household income is at or below 80% AMI and gather required documents.

Step 4: Ensure you have a minimum personal investment of $1,000 and two months of mortgage payments in cash reserves.

Step 5: Work with an approved lender to get pre-approved for a mortgage and submit your AHAP application through Housing Channel.
