Affordable Habitat mortgage with below-market terms (Zero-Interest Loan)
Repaid over the loan term through affordable monthly mortgage payments reinvested into building additional Habitat homes.
Eligibility
- Income limits: At or below 80% AMI for Buncombe County
- First-time buyer required: No
- Geographic restrictions: Must have lived and/or worked in Buncombe or Madison County for at least 12 months.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program
Step 1: Attend a Habitat information session or download the application from their website.
Step 2: Submit a completed application with income documentation to 33 Meadow Rd, Asheville, NC 28803.
Step 3: Demonstrate housing need (overcrowded, substandard, paying more than 30% of income on rent, or in temporary/subsidized housing).
Step 4: Each applicant on the deed must commit to 200 hours of Sweat Equity.
Step 5: Complete a Homebuyer Education program.
