How much assistance

Matched savings grant: every $1 deposited is matched with $1 or $2 (depending on enrollment), up to $2,000 per year in match funds for two years (up to $4,000 in match) toward down payment and closing costs. (Grant)

Match funds are granted at the close of the IDA savings period upon successful home purchase. The savings match does not have to be repaid if the participant completes the program and purchases a qualifying home.

Eligibility

  • Income limits: Low- to moderate-income households with earned income. Verify current limits with CAASTLC.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be a first-time homebuyer and complete homebuyer education with Homeownership Ready status.
  • Geographic restrictions: Available to residents of St. Louis County, including the City of Florissant.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for CAASTLC Individual Development Account (IDA) Program

Step 1: Contact CAASTLC at (314) 863-0015 to enroll. Open a matched savings account and deposit at least $10 per month. Complete homebuyer education and one-on-one housing counseling to reach Homeownership Ready status. Save for up to two years, then use matched funds toward your home purchase.

Notes

The IDA matched savings can be combined with the City of Florissant DPA and the St. Louis County 1st HOME loan to stack assistance. CAASTLC also administers a separate zero-interest deferred loan of $3,000 for St. Louis County buyers and helps coordinate the $3,500 Florissant city loan.
