Up to $25,000 (Forgivable Loan)
Zero-percent, non-amortizing, forgivable loan secured through a Mortgage and Mortgage Note. Loans under $15,000 are forgiven after 5 years of owner-occupancy. Loans between $15,000 and $25,000 are forgiven after 10 years of owner-occupancy.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Low and moderate income households. Specific income limits are set annually based on HUD guidelines for Camden County.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home within the past three years.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a home within Camden County, NJ.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Camden County First-Time Homebuyer Program
Step 1: Contact the Camden County First Time Home Buyer Assistance Program at 856-751-2242 or email FTHBP@camdencounty.com. Applicants must complete a homebuyer training course from a HUD-approved counseling agency. The minimum level of assistance is $1,000 and the maximum is $25,000. Funds can be used for a combination of down payment and/or closing costs.

Funded by HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and/or HOME Investment Partnership programs. Recipients must maintain the unit as their primary residence (defined as residing there more than 183 days per year) for the duration of the loan period, with annual certification required. Maximum purchase prices are set annually.
