Up to 10% of the purchase price, maximum of $15,000 (Deferred Loan)

Zero-interest loan. Repayment is due only if the home is sold, becomes rental housing, or is no longer the borrower's primary residence.

  • Income limits: Income-eligible households based on HUD income limits for Charlotte County.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home within the last 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must have been living or working in Charlotte County. Property must be in Charlotte County.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Charlotte County SHIP Purchase Assistance Program

Step 1: Contact a participating lender to begin the application process. Complete a HUD-approved homebuyer education course. Provide income documentation and proof of residency or employment in Charlotte County. The lender will coordinate with Charlotte County Housing Division to process the assistance.
