Eligibility

  • Income limits: At or below 80% of area median income (AMI). Income limits range from $41,000 to $77,300 depending on household size.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be purchasing a home for the first time.
  • Geographic restrictions: Home must be within the city limits of Abilene. Applicant must have lived in Abilene for at least 6 months or worked/attended school in Abilene for at least 2 years.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for City of Abilene First Time Homebuyer Program

Step 1: Contact an approved participating lender to submit your application. The City of Abilene does not accept direct applications. You must also complete an online homebuyer training course and 10 hours of community service. For questions, call Neighborhood Services at (325) 437-4576.
