Forgiven after 10 consecutive years of owner-occupancy as principal residence. If the buyer sells, transfers, leases, rents, or ceases to occupy the property during this period, a portion of the loan must be repaid.

Eligibility

  • Income limits: Household income at or below 80% of area median family income
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must purchase within Laredo city limits. Must be a Laredo resident for at least 6 months with a 2-year employment history.
