0% interest deferred payment loan. Repayment required if you sell, refinance for cash out, rent the property, or stop using it as your primary residence before the loan term ends. May be forgiven entirely after maintaining owner-occupancy for the full term.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income at or below 80% AMI. Approximate 2025-2026 limits: 1 person $64,550; 2 persons $73,750; 3 persons $83,000; 4 persons $92,200; 5 persons $99,600.
- Purchase price limit: $636,806
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
- Geographic restrictions: Property must be located within City of Sunrise municipal limits. Eligible properties include single-family homes, townhomes, villas, and condominiums.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for City of Sunrise Purchase Assistance Program
Step 1: Contact the City of Sunrise Grants Division at (954) 572-2315 or housing@sunrisefl.gov. Complete a mandatory 8-hour HUD-approved homebuyer education workshop. Demonstrate stable employment and verify cash to close. Apply through the Sunrise housing department and your lender. Applications typically open in March each year.
