Forgivable loan for down payment and closing costs (Forgivable Loan)
Five-year forgivable loan. As long as the borrower resides in the home, the loan is forgiven at 20% each year on the anniversary date of settlement.

- First-time buyer required: Yes
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase owner-occupied property in Cabarrus, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Rowan, or Union County.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for DreamKey Partners NeighborhoodLIFT Program
Step 1: Complete a homebuyer education course through a HUD-approved agency.
Step 2: Contact DreamKey Partners to confirm funding availability and eligibility.
Step 3: Get pre-approved for a first mortgage.
Step 4: Find an owner-occupied property in one of the five eligible counties.
Step 5: Apply through DreamKey Partners for down payment and closing cost assistance.
