Up to $25,000 for existing homes; up to $50,000 for new construction in designated areas (Deferred Loan)
Zero-percent interest loan that does not have to be repaid until the sale or transfer of the property.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Income limits based on household size at or below 80% AMI. Example: two-person household maximum $42,500; four-person household maximum $53,100.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years. Displaced homemakers and single parents may also qualify.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase within East Baton Rouge Parish, excluding the incorporated areas of Baker, Central, and Zachary.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for East Baton Rouge Parish Homebuyer Assistance Program
Step 1: Contact the OCD First-time Homebuyer Office at (225) 389-3039. Complete a homebuyer education course through the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance at 225-346-1000 ext. 210. The loan is funded by HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
