Up to $25,000 (Forgivable Loan)
Forgivable over up to 10 years depending on the amount received. Must live and remain in the home during the affordability period.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income must be below 80% of Area Median Income (approximately $85,350 for a family of 4 as of June 2025)
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
- Geographic restrictions: Property must be located within Fort Worth city limits. Maximum sales price: $309,000 for existing homes or $329,000 for new construction.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for City of Fort Worth Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP)
Step 1: Contact Fort Worth Neighborhood Services at 817-392-7540. You must complete a HUD-certified homebuyer workshop through Housing Channel (817-924-5091 or counseling@housingchannel.org). Buyers must work with an approved lender and contribute a minimum of $1,000 or 2% of the purchase price, whichever is less.

Funded through HUD CDBG and HOME funds. Program operates on funding cycles and can exhaust funds. Administered through Housing Channel, a HUD-approved counseling agency. Purchase price limits: $309,000 existing homes, $329,000 new construction. Up to 3% of the loan amount may be used for closing costs with the remainder for down payment.
