Up to $12,000 for households at or below 50% AMI; up to $10,000 for 51%-80% AMI (Deferred Loan)

Zero-interest deferred loan. Repayment due upon sale, refinance, or conversion to investment property.

Eligibility

  • Income limits: Household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI). Higher assistance ($12,000) available for those at or below 50% AMI.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be a first-time homebuyer.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must currently live or work in Frederick County. Must purchase a home in Frederick County.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Frederick County Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP)

Step 1: Attend an 8-hour housing counseling course from a HUD-certified agency such as Frederick Community Action Agency at (301) 600-1506. Obtain a ratified sales contract before submitting your application. Minimum buyer contribution of $500 required.

Funded through federal HOME and CDBG funds. Lead paint requirements may apply for older homes.
