Up to $30,000 (Forgivable Loan)

Zero-interest deferred forgivable second mortgage. Conditioned on living and remaining in the home for up to 10 years. If you sell, transfer, lease, rent, abandon, or cease to occupy the property as your principal residence during this period, you may be required to repay a portion of the original loan amount.

  • Income limits: Household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI)
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Property must be within the City of Gainesville city limits.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for City of Gainesville Down Payment Assistance Program

Step 1: Complete a HUD-approved homebuyer education workshop. Contact the City of Gainesville Housing and Community Development Department for application details and current funding availability. The Gainesville Neighborhood Housing and Development Corporation (GNHDC) offers the required 8-hour course. Call GNHDC at 352-380-9119.

Notes

Assists low to moderate income families purchasing existing or newly constructed homes. Funds cover down payment and closing costs.
