Eligibility
- Income limits: At or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) based on household size
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
- Geographic restrictions: Property must be an existing home within Grand Prairie city limits. Property must pass HQS inspection performed by the City of Grand Prairie and all utilities must be on.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for City of Grand Prairie Buying Power Program
Step 1: Contact the City of Grand Prairie Housing and Neighborhood Services at 972-237-8176.
Step 2: Complete a HUD-approved homebuyer education course.
Step 3: Get pre-approved by a mortgage lender for a conventional, FHA, or VA loan.
Step 4: Find an existing home within Grand Prairie city limits.
Step 5: Submit your application with proof of income, mortgage pre-approval, and homebuyer education certificate.
Step 6: The property must pass a Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection by the City.
