Zero-interest forgivable loan. Forgiveness terms follow the standard Greensboro Homebuyer Assistance Program structure. Buyers in designated redevelopment areas may receive an additional $10,000 bonus.

- Income limits: Household income above 80% and below 120% of the Area Median Income.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be a first-time homebuyer or have not owned a home within the past 3 years.
- Geographic restrictions: Home must be located within Greensboro city limits. No Greensboro residency requirement for applicants.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Greensboro Public Service Heroes Program
Step 1: Confirm you meet eligibility requirements. You must have household income between 80% and 120% AMI and be employed by the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, Guilford County public schools, or be active duty military or a veteran.
Step 2: Complete an 8-hour HUD-approved homebuyer education course through Housing Consultants Group. Contact them at (336) 553-0946, ext. 101.
Step 3: Get pre-approved with a Greensboro Homebuyer Assistance Program approved lender.
Step 4: Find a home within Greensboro city limits. If buying in a designated redevelopment area, you may qualify for a $10,000 bonus on top of the base $20,000.
Step 5: Submit your application through your approved lender at the time of your loan application.

Part of the expanded Housing Connect GSO Homebuyer Assistance Program. Applicants must be employed by the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, Guilford County public school system, or be active duty military or a military veteran. Designated redevelopment areas include Dudley Heights, Eastside Park, Glenwood, Kings Forest, Mill District, Ole Asheboro, Random Woods, and Willow Oaks.
