Affordable home purchase with zero-interest mortgage (Zero-Interest Loan)

Eligibility

  • Income limits: Must meet income guidelines set by the local Habitat affiliate.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be in need of adequate housing and unable to qualify for a traditional mortgage.
  • Geographic restrictions: Sullivan, Carter, and Washington counties in Tennessee and the City of Bristol, Virginia. Must have lived or worked in service area for at least 6 months.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Habitat for Humanity of Holston Homeownership Program

Step 1: Apply through Habitat for Humanity of Holston during open application periods. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. Must participate in homeowner education classes.

Notes

Monthly mortgage payments structured to not exceed 30% of gross monthly income. Payments include principal, property taxes, homeowner's insurance, and a termite contract. Zero-interest mortgage makes homeownership affordable for low-income families.
