  • Income limits:
    Household income at or below 80% of HUD-determined Area Median Income for Johnson County.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes
    Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions:
    Property must be under contract and located in the Habitat KC service area: Johnson, Wyandotte, or Leavenworth County in Kansas, or Jackson, Platte, or Clay County in Missouri.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Habitat for Humanity Kansas City Down Payment Assistance Program

Step 1: Property must be under contract before applying. Apply via habitatkc.org/dpa. Applicants must demonstrate debt-to-income (DTI) ratio below 45% of gross income and complete HUD-approved homebuyer education.

Donor-backed program partnered with Health Forward Foundation. Distinct from Habitat's own home-building program — this DPA grant can be used with any qualifying purchase, not just Habitat-built homes.
