Grant does not need to be repaid. No additional closing costs associated with the program.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Annual income must be below county limits. Lubbock County income limit is approximately $90,720.
- First-time buyer required: No
- Credit score minimum: 620
- Geographic restrictions: Home must be in Texas and outside the city limits of El Paso, Grand Prairie, and McKinney, and outside Travis County. Must be primary residence.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Homeownership Across Texas (HAT) Grant Program
Step 1: Contact the Lubbock Housing Finance Corporation at 806-744-5397 or visit lubbockhousing.com. You must be approved for a 30-year FHA, VA, USDA, or Conventional mortgage through a participating HAT lender. Complete an eligible homebuyer education course online or in person.
