Up to $25,000 (Forgivable Loan)
Loans under $15,000 are fully forgiven after 5 years of owner-occupancy. Must repay in full or in part if the home is sold, refinanced, or vacated before the forgiveness period ends.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the Bridgeport metro area.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned property in the past 5 years.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a one- or two-family residence within Bridgeport city limits. Condominiums are not eligible.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Home Bridgeport Down Payment Assistance Program
Step 1: Contact Building Neighborhoods Together (BNT) at 203-290-4255 or 475-282-4872 to schedule an appointment. Located at 570 State St., Bridgeport, CT 06604. Must complete an 8-hour homebuyer education class with a HUD-approved counseling agency and contribute a minimum of 1% of the purchase price from own funds.

Administered by BNT (formerly Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust), a HUD-approved housing counseling agency and CHFA affiliate since 2008. Must have a written pre-approval letter from a mortgage lender for a fixed-rate mortgage.
