Loans under $15,000 are fully forgiven after 5 years of owner-occupancy. Must repay in full or in part if the home is sold, refinanced, or vacated before the forgiveness period ends.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the Bridgeport metro area.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned property in the past 5 years.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a one- or two-family residence within Bridgeport city limits. Condominiums are not eligible.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes

Must complete an 8-hour homebuyer education class with a HUD-approved counseling agency and contribute a minimum of 1% of the purchase price from own funds.
