Eligibility

  • Income limits: Household income must be at or below 80% of the Hartford area AMI. 2024 limits: 1 person $62,600; 2 person $71,550; 3 person $80,500; 4 person $89,400; 5 person $96,600.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be a first-time homebuyer.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a 1-4 family home within the City of Hartford.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for HouseHartford Homebuyer Assistance Program

Step 1: Contact the City of Hartford Department of Development Services. Must complete an 8-hour homebuyer education class prior to closing. Minimum personal contribution required: $1,000 for households at or below 50% AMI, $2,000 for households between 50-80% AMI.

One of the most generous city-level DPA programs in Connecticut. Income-eligible applicants can receive up to 20% of the total purchase price.
