Eligibility
- Income limits: Household income below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI)
- Purchase price limit: $325,000
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have had principal ownership of a home within the past three years, or must be a single parent who only owned a home with a now-former spouse.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase property in the Hyannis area of Barnstable.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Hyannis Homebuyer Assistance Program (HHAP)
Step 1: Contact the Town of Barnstable Housing and Community Development department at 508-862-4956. Applicants must complete a homebuyer education course, be a U.S. citizen or have eligible immigration status, and contribute at least 1.5% toward the purchase.
Notes
The HHAP provides two interest-free loans of up to $75,000 each as second mortgages. The $325,000 purchase price limit may significantly restrict eligible properties in the current Barnstable market.
