Step 1: Contact Lafayette Habitat for Humanity at 337-261-5041 or visit habitatlafayette.org. Must demonstrate housing need, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and willingness to complete 200+ hours of sweat equity and financial education programs.
Notes
Not a traditional DPA program. Habitat builds 3-4 bedroom, 1,100-1,200 sq ft homes and sells them at cost with zero-interest mortgages. Since 1992, LHFH has built and rehabilitated nearly 150 homes in south Louisiana. Monthly payments are roughly $350-$500.
