Eligibility

  • Income limits: Household gross annual income at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI) for Broward County
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the previous 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must purchase a property within the City of Margate city limits. Eligible properties include single-family homes, townhomes, villas, and condominiums. Mobile homes are not eligible.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for City of Margate Purchase Assistance Program

Step 1: Complete a homebuyer education class from a HUD-approved counseling agency before closing. Get pre-approved for a first mortgage that meets Broward County guidelines. Once under contract on a home in Margate, have your lender contact Broward County at 954-357-4943 to confirm fund availability for the next 60-90 days.
