How to Apply for Montgomery County Homeownership Assistance Fund (McHAF)

Step 1: Contact an HOC-approved participating lender. Complete a first-time homebuyer education course. Submit application through the lender with required documentation. Total non-retirement assets must be under 20% of the purchase price.

Notes

McHAF Phase VI opened August 2025 with $2 million in funding. Assistance is up to $25,000 or 40% of qualifying household income, whichever is less. Can be used for down payment or closing costs.
