Zero-interest deferred loan forgiven after 15 years of owner-occupancy. Full repayment required if home is sold or no longer primary residence before 15 years.

Eligibility

  • Income limits: Minimum household income of $30,000. Maximum income must not exceed HOME program limits for Nassau County (based on household size and HUD guidelines).
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home during the 3-year period prior to purchase.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must purchase an eligible single-family home in Nassau County.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Nassau County HOME Down Payment Assistance Program

Step 1: Contact the Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP) at (631) 435-4710 to apply. Attend a required mortgage counseling session. Provide a minimum down payment of $5,000 from your own funds. Secure a mortgage through a recognized lending institution.
