Zero-interest deferred loan. Loan amount decreases at a rate of 10% per year and is completely forgiven after 10 years. Must be repaid in full if the home is sold, transferred, or ceases to be the primary residence before forgiveness is complete.

How to Apply for Pathway to Purchase in Prince George's County

Step 1: Contact the Pathway to Purchase Office at (301) 883-5456. Work with an approved mortgage lender to submit an application. The home must pass a Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection.

Increased from $25,000 to $50,000 in 2024. Purchase price limit: $448,000 for resale homes, $485,000 for new construction. Can be combined with the Maryland Mortgage Program for an additional $6,000 in DPA, plus up to $2,500 from the Partner Match Program. Revised guidelines issued January 2026.
