Up to $7,500 (Deferred Loan)
Zero-interest 30-year deferred second mortgage. Never forgiven. Must be repaid when the first mortgage is repaid, upon sale, short-sale, foreclosure, or if the borrower ceases to live in the property.
Eligibility
- Income limits: $62,500 for 1-2 person household; $71,875 for 3+ person household in non-targeted areas
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Buyers and their spouses (occupant and non-occupant) must be first-time buyers. Must be able to permanently reside in the US.
- Credit score minimum: 640
- Geographic restrictions: Property must be located within Polk County.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Polk County Housing Finance Authority Home Key Program
Step 1: Work with a participating lender from the Home Key approved lender list. Complete a program-approved pre-purchase homebuyer education course. Must occupy the property within 60 days of closing. Contact the Polk County Real Estate office at 515 E. Boulevard St., Bartow, FL 33830 or call 863-534-5240.

Part of the multi-county Home Key program administered by the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County. Eligible properties include new or existing 1-4 unit homes, detached or attached, condos, and townhomes. Pairs with the Home Key 1st 30-year fixed-rate first mortgage program.
