Zero-interest 30-year deferred second mortgage. Never forgiven. Must be repaid when the first mortgage is repaid, upon sale, short-sale, foreclosure, or if the borrower ceases to live in the property.

Eligibility

  • Income limits: $62,500 for 1-2 person household; $71,875 for 3+ person household in non-targeted areas
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Buyers and their spouses (occupant and non-occupant) must be first-time buyers. Must be able to permanently reside in the US.
  • Credit score minimum: 640
  • Geographic restrictions: Property must be located within Polk County.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Polk County Housing Finance Authority Home Key Program

Step 1: Work with a participating lender from the Home Key approved lender list. Complete a program-approved pre-purchase homebuyer education course.
