$20,000 (outside CRAG) or $40,000 (inside CRAG) (Forgivable Loan)

0% interest, no-payment, 5-year forgivable loan. One-fifth of the principal is forgiven each year. If the employee separates from the City before full forgiveness, the remaining balance must be repaid.

Eligibility

  • Income limits: Must meet program income requirements.
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be a first-time homebuyer or have not owned a home in the last 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Must be a full-time civilian employee of the City of San Antonio. Must purchase within San Antonio city limits.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

CRAG = Community Revitalization Action Group area. Higher assistance amount for homes within CRAG boundaries. For civilian City employees only; SAPD/SAFD employees should apply through FRHAP instead.
