How to Apply for Somerville Inclusionary Housing Program
Step 1: Complete an approved Massachusetts Homeownership Collaborative first-time homebuyer training class.
Step 2: Obtain a mortgage pre-approval letter for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage.
Step 3: Monitor the City of Somerville Inclusionary Housing Program page for available units and open lotteries.
Step 4: Submit a pre-lottery application for the specific property.

Notes
Since 1990, Somerville's Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance has required a portion of new housing developments to include homes reserved for income-eligible buyers. Units are sold below market rate and remain deed-restricted for long-term affordability.
