Eligibility
- Income limits: Must be a current HCV participant (generally at or below 50% AMI at program entry) with minimum earned income requirements per HUD rules
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Borrower has not owned a primary residence in the past three years.
- Geographic restrictions: Spokane Housing Authority service area (Spokane, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry, and Whitman counties). Must be a current Housing Choice Voucher participant in good standing.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Spokane Housing Authority Homeownership Program
Step 1: Confirm you are a current Spokane Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher holder in good standing.
Step 2: Meet the employment and income requirements set by HUD for the HCV homeownership option.
Step 3: Contact Spokane Housing Authority at (509) 328-2953 to apply for the homeownership program.
Step 4: Complete required homebuyer education.
Step 5: Get pre-approved for a mortgage with a lender willing to accept the HCV homeownership subsidy.
Step 6: Purchase a home within the SHA service area with the voucher applied to your monthly payment.
