Zero-interest deferred loan with payments deferred for 5 to 15 years. May be forgivable at the end of the affordability period if occupancy requirements are met.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Must fall within HUD income guidelines (approximately $53,000 for 1-person household up to $100,000 for 8-person household)
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
- Credit score minimum: 640
- Geographic restrictions: Primarily for homes in unincorporated St. Lucie County, including Lakewood Park, River Park, and Indian River Estates.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for St. Lucie County HOME Consortium Down Payment Assistance
Step 1: Contact Jennifer Hance, Housing Manager at St. Lucie County Community Services-Housing Division at (772) 462-1777. Complete a HUD-approved homebuyer education course (minimum 6 hours). Apply through a participating lender. Funds are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. A minimum $500 contribution from the homebuyer is required.
