Homes sold at no profit with zero-interest, 30-year mortgage terms. Repayments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity.

Eligibility

  • Income limits: Household income must be below 60% of HUD median income
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home in the past 3 years.
  • Geographic restrictions: Onondaga County, NY
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Syracuse Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program

Step 1: Attend a Habitat for Humanity information session.

Step 2: Complete an application.

Step 3: If selected, commit to 300 hours of sweat equity toward home construction.

Step 4: Provide a $1,000 down payment.

Notes

Incorporated in 1984 with first house completed in 1986. Over 80 homes built or renovated since inception. Applicants must be a US Citizen or have permanent residency status (green card). Selection based on level of need, willingness to partner, and ability to repay.
