Up to $50,000 per client in Jefferson Parish; up to $60,000 per client in Kenner (Forgivable Loan)
Forgivable provided the home remains your primary residence for 5 to 15 years, depending on the amount of assistance received.
Eligibility
- Income limits: Income between 51% and 80% of Area Median Income as determined by HUD for Jefferson Parish.
- First-time buyer required: Yes — Must not have owned a home during the past three-year period.
- Geographic restrictions: Must purchase within Jefferson Parish (including Kenner). Kenner residents eligible for up to $60,000.
- Homebuyer education required: Yes
How to Apply for Jefferson Parish First-Time Homebuyer Assistance Program
Step 1: Contact Jefferson Parish Community Development at (504) 736-6262. Must enroll and complete Financial Fitness and First-Time Homebuyer Training Classes and receive certification (certificates valid for 2 years). Notes
Funded through the HUD HOME Grant Program. The program is only designed to work with a fixed rate/fixed term primary mortgage. Class certificates are good for 2 years. Program may have waitlists depending on funding availability.
