Eligibility

  • Income limits: Follows Home Advantage household income cap of $215,000
  • First-time buyer required: Yes — Must be a first-time homebuyer or purchasing in a designated target area.
  • Geographic restrictions: Statewide Washington. Eligible veterans include honorably discharged service members, those with a medical discharge and honorable record, current and former members of the Washington National Guard and Reserve, and never-remarried spouses and dependent children of deceased veterans. Must pair with Home Advantage first mortgage.
  • Homebuyer education required: Yes

How to Apply for Veterans Down Payment Assistance

Step 1: Complete the five-hour WSHFC homebuyer education class.

Step 2: Gather veteran eligibility documentation (DD-214 or equivalent).

Step 3: Apply through a WSHFC participating lender who will reserve the Veterans DPA alongside a Home Advantage first mortgage.
