How to Apply

Step 1:

Check your eligibility. The OK/CN Counties HOME program requires household income at or below 80% of HUD area median income (AMI) and first-time buyer status. OHFA programs require a 640 minimum credit score.

Step 2:

Complete a HUD-approved homebuyer education course. NHS Oklahoma at (405) 231-4663 is a HUD Certified Homeownership Center serving central Oklahoma. The Community Action Agency of OKC also offers HUD-approved workshops.

Step 3:

Contact the Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City at (405) 232-0199 to apply for the OK/CN Counties HOME DPA program. Plan for the 1% to 1.75% buyer contribution requirement.

Step 4:

Get pre-approved with an OHFA-approved or REI-approved lender. They can pair the County DPA with OHFA Dream or REI Gift100 on top of a 30-year fixed first mortgage.

Step 5:

Find a home in Yukon within program purchase price limits. The OK/CN Counties HOME program caps purchase prices at $157,000 for existing homes or $238,000 for new construction in Canadian County.

Step 6:

Submit your full application package and complete loan counseling.

Step 7:

Close on your home and remain owner-occupant for the full 7 years for the OK/CN Counties HOME DPA to be fully forgiven without prorated repayment.
